16 约瑟说，若是银子用尽了，可以把你们的牲畜给我，我就为你们的牲畜给你们粮食。
〃Then bring your livestock；〃 said Joseph。 〃I will sell you food in exchange for your livestock； since your money is gone。〃
17 于是他们把牲畜赶到约瑟那里，约瑟就拿粮食换了他们的牛，羊，驴，马。那一年因换他们一切的牲畜，就用粮食养活他们。
So they brought their livestock to Joseph； and he gave them food in exchange for their horses； their sheep and goats； their cattle and donkeys。 And he brought them through that year with food in exchange for all their livestock。
18 那一年过去，第二年他们又来见约瑟，说，我们不瞒我主，我们的银子都花尽了，牲畜也都归了我主。我们在我主眼前，除了我们的身体和田地之外，一无所剩。
When that year was over； they came to him the following year and said； 〃We cannot hide from our lord the fact that since our money is gone and our livestock belongs to you； there is nothing left for our lord except our bodies and our land。
19 你何忍见我们人死地荒呢？求你用粮食买我们和我们的地，我们和我们的地就要给法老效力。又求你给我们种子，使我们得以存活，不至死亡，地土也不至荒凉。
Why should we perish before your eyeswe and our land as well？ Buy us and our land in exchange for food； and we with our land will be in bondage to Pharaoh。 Give us seed so that we may live and not die； and that the land may not bee desolate。〃
20 于是，约瑟为法老买了埃及所有的地，埃及人因被饥荒所迫，各都卖了自己的田地。那地就都归了法老。
So Joseph bought all the land in Egypt for Pharaoh。 The Egyptians； one and all； sold their fields； because the famine was too severe for them。 The land became Pharaoh's；
21 至于百姓，约瑟叫他们，从埃及这边直到埃及那边，都各归各城。
and Joseph reduced the people to servitude； from one end of Egypt to the other。
22 惟有祭司的地，约瑟没有买，因为祭司有从法老所得的常俸。他们吃法老所给的常俸，所以他们不卖自己的地。
However； he did not buy the land of the priests； because they received a regular allotment from Pharaoh and had food enough from the allotment Pharaoh gave them。 That is why they did not sell their land。
23 约瑟对百姓说，我今日为法老买了你们和你们的地，看哪，这里有种子给你们，你们可以种地。
Joseph said to the people； 〃Now that I have bought you and your land today for Pharaoh； here is seed for you so you can plant the ground。
24 后来打粮食的时候，你们要把五分之一纳给法老，四分可以归你们作地里的种子，也作你们和你们家口孩童的食物。
But when the crop es in； give a fifth of it to Pharaoh。 The other four…fifths you may keep as seed for the fields and as food for yourselves and your households and your children。〃
25 他们说，你救了我们的性命。但愿我们在我主眼前蒙恩，我们就作法老的仆人。
〃You have saved our lives；〃 they said。 〃May we find favor in the eyes of our lord； we will be in bondage to Pharaoh。〃
26 于是约瑟为埃及地定下常例，直到今日，法老必得五分之一，惟独祭司的地不归法老。
So Joseph established it as a law concerning land in Egyptstill in force todaythat a fifth of the produce belongs to Pharaoh。 It was only the land of the priests that did not bee Pharaoh's。
27 以色列人住在埃及的歌珊地。他们在那里置了产业，并且生育甚多。
Now the Israelites settled in Egypt in the region of Goshen。 They acquired property there and were fruitful and increased greatly in number。
28 雅各住在埃及地十七年，雅各平生的年日是一百四十七岁。
Jacob lived in Egypt seventeen years； and the years of his life were a hundred and forty…seven。
29 以色列的死期临近了，他就叫了他儿子约瑟来，说，我若在你眼前蒙恩，请你把手放在我大腿底下，用慈爱和诚实待我，请你不要将我葬在埃及。
When the time drew near for Israel to die； he called for his son Joseph and said to him； 〃If I have found favor in your eyes； put your hand under my thigh and promise that you will show me kindness and faithfulness。 Do not bury me in Egypt；
30 我与我祖我父同睡的时候，你要将我带出埃及，葬在他们所葬的地方。约瑟说，我必遵着你的命而行。
but when I rest with my fathers； carry me out of Egypt and bury me where they are buried。〃 〃I will do as you say；〃 he said。
31 雅各说，你要向我起誓。约瑟就向他起了誓，于是以色列在床头上（或作扶着杖头）敬拜神。
〃Swear to me；〃 he said。 Then Joseph swore to him； and Israel worshiped as he leaned on the top of his staff。
1 这事以后，有人告诉约瑟说，你的父亲病了。他就带着两个儿子玛拿西和以法莲同去。
Some time later Joseph was told； 〃Your father is ill。〃 So he took his two sons Manasseh and Ephraim along with him。
2 有人告诉雅各说，请看，你儿子约瑟到你这里来了。以色列就勉强在床上坐起来。
When Jacob was told； 〃Your son Joseph has e to you；〃 Israel rallied his strength and sat up on the bed。
3 雅各对约瑟说，全能的神曾在迦南地的路斯向我显现，赐福与我，
Jacob said to Joseph； 〃God Almighty appeared to me at Luz in the land of Canaan； and there he blessed me
4 对我说，我必使你生养众多，成为多民，又要把这地赐给你的后裔，永远为业。
and said to me； 'I am going to make you fruitful and will increase your numbers。 I will make you a munity of peoples； and I will give this land as an everlasting possession to your descendants after you。'
5 我未到埃及见你之先，你在埃及地所生的以法莲和玛拿西这两个儿子是我的，正如流便和西缅是我的一样。
〃Now then； your two sons born to you in Egypt before I came to you here will be reckoned as mine； Ephraim and Manasseh will be mine； just as Reuben and Simeon are mine。
6 你在他们以后所生的就是你的，他们可以归于他们弟兄的名下得产业。
Any children born to you after them will be yours； in the territory they inherit they will be reckoned under the names of their brothers。
7 至于我，我从巴旦来的时候，拉结死在我眼前，在迦南地的路上，离以法他还有一段路程，我就把她葬在以法他的路上。以法他就是伯利恒。
As I was returning from Paddan； to my sorrow Rachel died in the land of Canaan while we were still on the way； a little distance from Ephrath。 So I buried her there beside the road to Ephrath〃 （that is； Bethlehem）。
8 以色列看见约瑟的两个儿子，就说，这是谁？
When Israel saw the sons of Joseph； he asked； 〃Who are these？〃
9 约瑟对他父亲说，这是神在这里赐给我的儿子。以色列说，请你领他们到我跟前，我要给他们祝福。
